Weld County, Colorado Processing Plant

Project Summary

Saulsbury was contracted to fully engineer and construct a 200-MMSCFD cryogenic processing facility in Weld County, Colorado as the second train to an existing facility. Saulsbury’s scope included all of the detailed engineering/design, general construction, instrumentation and electrical construction, and control systems for the project.

The project consisted of the cryogenic plant, amine treating, dehydration, liquid slug catching and stabilization, residue gas compression, and all balance of plant equipment, utilities, and electrical infrastructure.

This project marked the first of three separate projects executed by Saulsbury at three different locations in Weld County for one of the largest midstream gas processors in Colorado’s DJ Basin.

Scope of the project

  • One — 200-MMSCFD UOP Russell GSP cryo plant
  • One — 4,500-HP refrigeration system with spare compressor
  • Two —1,800-bbl slug catchers (vessels)
  • One — 1,000-GPM amine treater
  • One — 3.0-MMBtu/hr TEG dehydration
  • Two — Solar Taurus 70 residue compressors with waste heat recovery system
  • One — 7,500-bbl/day condensate stabilizer
  • Two — 1,000-HP overhead compressors
  • One integrated plant hot oil system with two x 27-MMBtu/hr waste heat recovery exchangers utilizing gas-turbine exhaust, along with a 40-MMBtu/hr supplemental direct-fired hot oil heater
  • Two electrical PDC buildings
  • Truck loading and unloading
  • Four process equipment buildings (residue compression, stabilizer overhead compression, refrigeration compression, and amine regeneration buildings)
  • Balance of plant equipment, utilities, and electrical systems
